FateMMO: Awaken Update: Dragons, Treasure, Gear Drops & Chapter 9

FateMMO: Awaken, my free Dragon Quest-style browser RPG, just got its biggest update: dragons, treasure reveals, random gear drops and chapter 9.

New here? Awaken is a free turn-based RPG set in the world of FateMMO. You explore painted regions, run into roaming monsters, and fight them with Fight, Skills, Items, Defend, Flee or Auto. It runs on phones and desktops with no download. Start as a guest, then save your hero with a free account whenever you like.

Dragons, Treasure and Story Moments

• Dragons: dragons now headline set-piece battles, led by the Aether Drake and the Celestial Dragon, and both change the fight with a second phase.

• Treasure reveals: boss rewards and rare finds open with a proper reveal, so a great drop finally feels like one.

• Story moments: chapter cards, a serpent treaty cinematic, smooth fades between regions and a Celestial purification scene carry the story between battles.

• Nameplates and level-ups: bosses show their names on screen, and every level-up gets its own card.

Gear Worth Fighting For

• Random gear drops: any wild battle can now drop gear, and bosses drop it far more often. Duplicates, and finds that won't fit in your bag, turn into gold, so nothing is wasted.

• More room in your bag: the gear you're wearing no longer uses bag slots, so all 16 slots are free for loot, and random field finds always leave your last free slot open for story rewards.

• Faster leveling: wild battles now pay more experience, and quest level milestones no longer erase the experience you'd already earned toward your next level.

• The Gilded Drakeling: about one roaming monster in fifty is a rare golden drake. It's fast, it dodges often, and each hit deals at most 1 damage (2 on a critical) against its 5 HP. Beat it and you gain one whole level.

Chapter 9: Four Broken Fates

Chapter 9 is now playable. After the fall of the Loom, the Fate Maker recruits four officers to break the faction domains and turn the Aurora Gauntlet into a machine for choosing its champion. Peanut sends you into the Fate Domains to stop them, and the road ends at the Negative Champion. Then the Rift Maw opens beneath the Deep Void.

What's Next for Awaken

Chapter 10, The Last Pattern, is next. I'm also watching how the new drop rates and leveling feel in real play, so tell me in the forums or on Discord if a fight feels too easy or too punishing.

Awaken is its own game with its own progression. The native iOS build completed internal TestFlight testing in June, and the free external TestFlight waitlist is open. Invitations are not live yet and there is no invitation date.
