Dev Log #12 — Built for the First Wave: Guest Play, Apple Sign-In, and Reconnect-Safe Multiplayer

The newest FateMMO work is about everything that has to go right before and after the fireworks: getting a new player into the world quickly, recovering a mobile session responsibly, and keeping a shared world responsive as more players move through it.

This is the foundation for the first external testing wave.

Start Playing First, Choose Your Login Second

Play as Guest is now backed by persistent server accounts. A new tester can enter without stopping to create permanent credentials, then keep that guest profile instead of treating it like a disposable demo.

Continue with Apple and Game Center identity paths are implemented alongside guest-account upgrade support. The goal is a mobile-first entry flow where testing the game comes before managing an account, while still giving that progress a path to a lasting identity.

Reconnect-Safe Combat State

Mage Meditation became a full vertical slice for reconnect recovery. Cooldowns and skill state can now be retained and rehydrated when a player returns, instead of every reconnect rebuilding the combat UI from an empty assumption.

World population delivery is also gated during reconnect so nearby entities can be restored in a deliberate order. This is not a claim that mobile networks will never interrupt a session. It is the work required to make interruption recovery predictable, testable, and much safer for an MMO.

More MMO In Every Packet

Entity-entry and movement replication now have compact network paths. That reduces the data required to introduce and move players, mobs, pets, and other replicated entities through a populated scene.

The benefit is bigger than a protocol number: the first wave can test real movement, crowding, reconnects, and latency against a leaner shared-world foundation instead of a single-player-shaped prototype.

A Leaner World On OpenGL And Metal

The ground runtime now has compact rendering paths for both OpenGL and Metal, backed by asynchronous loader activation and stronger generation, fencing, and handoff rules. Planned lifecycle and shutdown handling also gained safeguards for checkpoints and orderly ownership changes.

Those systems do not promise zero downtime or a disconnect-free game. They give FateMMO better tools to recover cleanly, reject stale world state, and find the device and network edge cases that only real testers can expose.

What The First Wave Will Test

Account entry — guest creation, Apple and Game Center identity, and upgrading a guest profile.
Session recovery — cooldown restoration, combat-state rehydration, and orderly world population after reconnect.
Shared-world movement — compact replication under real mobile latency and crowded scenes.
Device performance — ground loading and rendering behavior across the iPhone hardware testers actually use.

External TestFlight Status

The external TestFlight waitlist is open now. Invitations are not live yet, and joining the waitlist does not mean immediate access. Testers will be invited in controlled waves when the external build and rollout are ready.

FateMMO is moving from proving that its systems exist to proving that they hold together for real players on real phones. If you want to help break the edges, sharpen the experience, and be part of the first wave into the world, add your name to the waitlist.
